Coach Jerry Frostick
Jerry is the race director of the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon, Half Marathon and 8k, and the founder of Final Kick Sports. He has competed in 4 Ironman distance triathlons and over 50 marathons, with a marathon personal best of 2:52. Jerry has been coaching athletes of all levels for over 15 years. He places a big emphasis on the mental aspect of training and racing, and enjoys instilling the confidence in his athletes that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. He focuses on teaching fitness as a lifestyle, not as a job or an obligation. Ultimately, fitness is something we do for fun, and it should be a stress reducer not an added stress. Most importantly, Jerry genuinely cares about the success and happiness of the athletes that he coaches.
My Philosophy - Everyone is different, so training plans need to be flexible. I work with athletes to set up short term and long term goals, and then devise a customized plan to help them achieve them. Creating a training plan is more than just writing down challenging workouts, it’s about finding the correct balance. Finding a place for your training amidst family, career and other life responsibilities is always a challenge, and I enjoy helping people find that balance between their training and their life. I firmly believe that we train and race better when we are happy with ourselves.
Many of my strengths as a coach come from having setbacks as an athlete. I have made plenty of mistakes in my training and racing, and I have learned from them and incorporated those lessons into my coaching. Through experience, I have learned the importance of patience in training and racing. Fitness doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time, dedication and hard work, and inevitably, you will encounter some obstacles along the way. As an athlete, you are bound to have some bad workouts, disappointing races and maybe even some injuries. It’s all part of the process and believe me, I have had my share. I will teach you how to how to turn those negatives into positives and become stronger as a result.
